Vintage La Fonda side chair. First created in 1961 at the request of Alexander Girard for his restaurant La Fonda del Sol at the New York Time-Life Building. The chairs were designed with backs no higher than the table as specifically requested by Girard. It was also the first time the Eames used an upholstery system with black rubber piping which was eventually used for all the other Eames upholstered chairs. Chair is in good vintage condition with minor scratches on the upholstery consistent with age and use. Sold on an "as is where is" basis.
