Rare 1950s original production 4755 wind-up clock designed by George Nelson for the Howard Miller Company. The "Ball Clock" as it is popularly known, was the very first of many iconic Nelson clocks produced by the company. At that time, Nelson held the post of Director of Design for Herman Miller and was instrumental to the company's success. Later on, he would introduce a young couple by the name of Charles and Ray Eames to DJ Depree the company's owner. Howard Miller, the timepiece arm of Herman Miller, was responsible for producing the original timepieces and bubble lamps that George Nelson designed. Later on, these pieces would inspire the re-issues of the George Nelson clocks and lamps by Modernica, Herman Miller, and Vitra which we now enjoy. Item is in good vintage condition with signs of wear & use. The clock is working and comes with the windup key. A single wind could last approximately 2 days but the clock starts to be inaccurate towards 2nd day. Item is sold on an "as is where is" basis.
